Lake Forest Obituary: Lewis Bertsos, 89

Lewis John Bertsos, age 89, a longtime resident of Lake Forest, IL passed away on June 11, 2023.

Beloved husband of 62 years to the late Birdie Bertsos (2022); loving father of Kathy (Robert) Regel, Kristie (Robert) McGovern, and Vicki Bertsos; adored grandfather of David Regel, Daniel Regel, Emily Thieme, Jacob McGovern, Joseph McGovern, Julia Balbach, and Charlie Balbach; caring great-grandfather of Ashlyn and Calvin Thieme; and loving brother of the late Anne Yagle and the late Helen Schallerer.

Lewis spent his career in education and worked for 27 years at Lake Forest High School. He retired in 1989 and was a physical education teacher, coach, and athletic Director during his tenure. Lewis was well known and respected by his students and the community. He was a member of the U.S. Army, 1st Infantry Division, 16th Regiment.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, June 19, 2023 at Christ Church of Lake Forest, 100 N. Waukegan Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
