Supporters Back Lake Bluff Cyclist's Dream

Alexandra Lee Christofalos quickly raised the money she needed thanks to a public fundraising campaign.

When a local cyclist asked the public to help her achieve a dream, supporters quickly came to her aid.

Alexandra Lee Christofalos of Lake Bluff set out at the end of October to raise the $600 she needed to go to Colorado for the 2014 Cyclocross Nationals in January.

Within a month, she had collected $620. Her success was due to her campaign on GoFundMe, a website that allows people to raise money for all types of causes.

GoFundMe has partnered with Patch to help draw attention to your neighbors who are behind those campaigns. Visit the site and search by town or ZIP code to find other neighbors who could use your support.
