The Lake County State's Attorney's Office approved two charges of domestic battery and one charge of domestic battery involving strangulation against Weston.
During additional investigation into the incident, deputies learned Weston had several firearms at his home.
"Given Weston’s charges stemming from the violent attack and his status as a convicted felon, a sheriff’s deputy requested a Firearm Restraining Order and a Search Warrant to seize any firearms, both of which were granted by a judge," the sheriff's department said.
The warrant was conducted on Tuesday and two firearms with extended magazines were recovered. Authorities also seized approximately 230 grams of marijuana found near the firearms.
Following the additional findings, the State's Attorney's Office approved additional charges against Weston for possession of a weapon by a felon and unlawful possession of cannabis.
Weston remains in custody awaiting his next court date on July 31 in the Lake County Jail, according to authorities.
