Beer Tasting Planned to Beautify Lake View
Helping to improve the community by drinking beer may be one of life's clearest no-brainers.
Sip on some frosty brews and improve the look of Lake View? It’s a win-win.
Central Lake View Neighbors Association is hosting a benefit for its Neighborhood Beautification Program where residents can do what they love to spruce up the neighborhood they love.
On Feb. 24, resents can head over to George Street Pub at 2858 N. Halsted St. the association’s beer tasting event, one of the fundraisers the group does every year to fund the projects around the neighborhood.

Diann Marsalek, CLVN’s president, says this is a program several years in the running, and every year they improve Lake View a little more than the year before.
“Last year we purchased paint from this fund and painted all the recreational equipment at the Kenmore Park on Kenmore near Belmont,” Marsalek said in an email. “This year we are going to work on the park on Fletcher—Martin Park to spruce up at park.

“Last year we mulched Agassiz School and also planted some materials there,” she continued. “This year we would like to rebuild their flower boxes and spruce the landscaping at our local school.”
That’s combined with the funding used to deck out local street corners with flowers, plants and much. Marsalek said the group now does about 12 corners every year, and each year they try to expand and add more.
The beer tasting event is from 3-6 p.m. and costs $10 for CLVN members, and $20 for non-members.
