1. Chicago will require proof of COVID-19 vaccination at indoor businesses beginning Jan. 3. Mayor Lori Lightfoot made the announcement Tuesday as the city reports 1,700 new cases per day. "For the vaccinated, you are free to go about your business," Lightfoot said. "But you need to have proof."(Patch)

2. More details are emerging about a string of Lakeview burglaries last weekend. “Two men driving a white SUV broke into five stores to steal cash and merchandise,” according to CWB. Burglars hit businesses on West Belmont, North Southport, North Broadway and North Clark. (CWB)

3. COVID-19 test appointments are booked through Monday at Innovative Care’s testing location in Lincoln Park as people line up across Chicagoland to get tested before the holidays. More than 200,000 people were tested on Sunday alone. (CBS2)

4. Several Lakeview businesses are shutting down voluntarily as the virus surges citywide. Berlin Nightclub announced it will remain closed until Dec. 26. Some venues are extending planned holiday closures out of caution, while others are closing due to staff members testing positive. (Block Club)

5. Tomorrow is expected to be the year’s busiest travel day at O’Hare and Midway airports as the omicron variant surges. Airline officials urge passengers to arrive at the airport extra early due to holiday travel crowds. (FOX32)
