Chihuahua-Terrier With Pretty Blue Eyes: This Week's Pet

PAWS Chicago brings you this week's adoptable pet, Kika. She's a sweet less-than 1-year-old pup who just wants to be loved.

Kika needs you.

The 8-month-old Chihuahua-Terrier mix came to PAWS Chicago in May after a previous owner left her at animal control. She was underfed and had an ear infection but is now a healthy 22 pounds and ready for a brand new life.

Kika likes people but can take her time warming up to new friends, volunteers said. It's best to move slowly with her and let her approach you until a trusting relationship is established. Kika has attended doggy daycare, where she got along swimmingly with dogs her size or larger. However, she may do best as the only canine in her home while she brushes up on her socialization and obedience skills.

Because Kika can be reactive to other dogs on walks, PAWS is looking for patient, experienced adopters who live in a quiet neighborhood or have an enclosed backyard. A low-stress setting where Kika can just be herself would be a dream come true for this brave puppy.

Will you give her a chance?
