1. Chicago Public Schools will shorten its quarantine requirement from 10 days to five beginning Feb. 1. The district is “not backing away” from its decision to no longer publish overall COVID-19 numbers, sticking to individual school data. (Chalkbeat/WBEZ)

2. More news from the classroom: Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced paid sick leave for vaccinated teachers and school staff who are forced to quarantine from positive cases or close contacts. "Health care professionals and scientists have given us a path out of this pandemic, and we should follow it," he said. (WTTW)

3. Lincoln Park Ald. Michele Smith’s office is responding to the North Side crime spike by launching a postcard campaign. According to Block Club, residents are encouraged to write to Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx and Chief Judge Timothy Evans “to demand greater accountability for criminals.” (Block Club)

4. The City is launching a study called “Clark Street Crossroads” that aims to “enhance the street’s mixed-use vitality and walkability.” Residents are asked to take a survey about potential plans for a one mile stretch of Clark Street through Uptown.
