Divy Moves Bike Stand After Stop Sign Complaints

The DIVVY stand was moved further away from a stop sign after neighbors complained.

A DIVVY station at the intersection of Pine Grove and Addison has been moved after neighbors complained that the solar panel was blocking a stop sign.

"We moved the map panel to the other end of the station to address the concern that it was blocking the visibility of the stop sign," Elliot Greenberger, a spokesperson for DIVVY, told Patch. "In doing so, we then moved the station slightly toward the stop sign to accommodate the map panel on the other end."

The Belmont Harbor Neighbor Association requested that the station be removed last month in a letter to DIVVY, the Chicago Department of Transportation and Alderman James Cappleman.

"It's a traffic hazard, plain and simple," Garry Albrecht, member of the Board of Directors for the Belmont Harbor Neighbor Association, told Patch in Oct. "If anyone is not accustomed with that intersection, especially at night, they'll go right through it."
