Feigenholtz Recognized for Women’s Health Advocacy
The state representative was given a nod by the Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force for her work to raise breast cancer awareness.
The Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force recognized state Rep. Sara Feigenholtz (D-Chicago) on Saturday for her raising awareness of and improving access to breast cancer screening and treatment.
The task force cited Feigenholtz’s work in preserving the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (IBCCP) during negotiations for the Fiscal Year 2013 budget. IBCCP provides low-income, uninsured women with free mammograms and cervical cancer screenings.
“The earlier cancer is detected, the better the prognosis," said Feigenholtz. "Preserving screening and preventative services is vital to the health of women at risk and help save time and money treating cancer in its later stages. With so many women in need, I’m grateful to have partners like the Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force as we continue to fight for accessible health care for all.”
