1. Construction will begin soon at the Lincoln Hub to install permanent curb extensions, Block Club reports. Work at the intersection of Wellington, Southport and Lincoln avenues is expected to last through the summer as part of a $12 million streetscaping project. (Block Club)

2. A man convicted of committing a felony hate crime against a Lakeview YMCA employee will run for the County Board’s 15th District, according to the Tribune. Kevin Ake “left more than 100 phone calls harassing a lesbian YMCA director about her sexual orientation” in 2002. He is running against Cook County’s first openly gay board member, Commissioner Kevin Morrison. (Paid source: Tribune)

3. Two men were caught posing as ComEd employees in Lakeview in attempt to scam residents near Lakewood Avenue and School Street. According to CBS, ComEd has seen a 150 percent increase in scams this year. (CBS)

  • St. Patrick’s Day celebrations will take over Clark Street today. The Lakeview Chamber of Commerce will offer warming tents on Eddy Street and Cornelia Avenue to help with the cold weather and “alleviate some of the rowdy lines,” Block Club reports. (Block Club)
  • The Chamber of Commerce also has a full list of where to celebrate in the neighborhood, from Duffy’s Tavern to Murphy’s Bleachers. Chicago Food Magazine and Eater also have suggestions for where to raise a glass today. (Chamber)
  • Wrigleyville businesses are rejoicing after the MLB ended its lockout and announced a full baseball season will be played this year. The Cubs and White Sox will return to the field in mid-April. (ABC)
