Indian Restaurant Taking Over North Broadway Corner
The new owner plans to knock down the wall between the former Ted's Cleaners on North Broadway and Crazy Chicken to create an Indian fusion restaurant.
The wall will soon come down between two vacant storefronts on the corner of North Broadway and West Barry Avenue to make way for a new Indian fusion restaurant.
The former Ted’s Cleaners at 3108 N. Broadway and Crazy Chicken at 606 W. Barry Ave. are slated to be transformed into Bombay Bliss, a casual sit-down and carry-out restaurant owned by the man behind The Little India restaurant in Edgewater.
Owner Mumtaz Rizvi says his vision for Bombay Bliss in East Lake View is somewhat different than The Little India, with more of a focus on dining. The new restaurant will even include a café.

“The restaurant will hopefully be coming this spring,” Rizvi said. “It will have Indian food and Indian fusion food, and it will be a wonderful place. I’m brining in a brand new restaurant with a café, also.”

Rizvi says his new restaurant will be BYOB, and it will most likely be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays, with the exception of being open until 11 p.m. on weekends. And while specifics on the menu are still in the works, entrée prices at The Little India average around $12 with lunch specials as low as $6.
However, Rizvi says hammering out the details has been a long process. After originally only being interested in the former Crazy Chicken location, Rizvi made an offer to include Ted’s Drycleaners in the deal, too. Ted’s officially closed on July 31, and according to Rizvi, it’s prime real estate.
“This place is in Lake View, and it is close to the Lincoln Park area,” Rizvi said. “It seems like there is great (population of) diners and great foot traffic. There used to be a couple of Indian restaurants around here years ago, but now there’s just the one on Belmont, and it’s a buffet. We will serve sit-down, casual dining and definitely have a different approach, have additional food and try to sell additional things.”
Rizvi is still waiting for the city permits to move forward with construction at Bombay Bliss, saying the holiday season has added to how hectic the process is. However, he plans to start construction shortly after the permits are approved.
