Tian Tian and The Joy of Snow, Panda Style

America's Giant Panda delights in a roll through record-setting snow in Washington, D.C., on Saturday. And millions of people love watching.

Tian Tian woke up in Washington, D.C., on Saturday and rollicked joyfully in the snow, a delightful moment in an otherwise brutal day for the East Coast as one of the worst blizzards in history pummels the region.

Tian Tian, 18, is a 275-pound Giant Panda bear at the National Zoo in the nation’s capital. He’s one of about 100 pandas in zoos around the world. Giant Panda bears, an endangered species, are native to China and live on remote mountains in cool, wet bamboo jungles.

The video on Facebook has been watched more than 30 million times and shared more than 1 million times. On Twitter, the video has been retweeted 135,000 times.

A few commenters on Facebook said:

Rowan Beale: When you look at this you realize how miserable human beings are! The fact that we let work and money pressures get in the way of simplicity, life and happiness! Just look how happy and content that panda is with a bit of snow!!

Jackie Sternberg: Thank you to all the caretakers looking out for these precious animals during this horrible blizzard. My thoughts were with you all first thing this morning, even before I saw this adorable video.

Diane Nicholls: This picture is priceless, extremely adorable and very enjoyable to view! Thank you very, very much to the zoo keeper at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo & Conservative Biology Institute, who was at the right place at the right time! Thank you to all at the Institute for their devoted care of these beautiful, lovely and adorable Pandas and all the other work and research they do.

Chaka Shakira: This made me so happy. Just look at how happy and satisfied with life this panda is, while everyone is acting hysterical because of some snow. Animals are so beautiful and precious. This will definitely be my go to video when I am feeling discontent about anything and need to remind myself to be grateful and happy about the little things. So sweet, so cute.
