1. At least two more robberies were reported Sunday in Lakeview, 10 minutes apart. A 22-year-old man was robbed in 3500 block of North Freemont Street at 11:30 p.m. About 10 minutes later a 25-year-old woman was assaulted and her belongings were stolen in the 1100 block of West Oakdale Avenue. No one is in custody for either crime. (ABC)
2. The city of Chicago has yet to announce any new COVID-19 restrictions due to the omicron variant being detected in neighboring states. Masks remain a requirement in any indoor setting in Illinois. (Block Club)

3. Jussie Smollett took the witness stand in his disorderly conduct trial yesterday. His “Empire” boss and a Streeterville security guard, who was in the neighborhood the night of an alleged hate crime attack against the actor, also testified Monday. (Tribune)
4. Boka Restaurant Group is elaborating on its plans to renovate and open three restaurants inside the former home of Southport Lanes, which closed in September 2020 due to the pandemic. The building at 3325 N. Southport Ave. will house GG’s Chicken Shop and two other eateries, which Boka is expected to announce next summer. (Block Club)
5. It’s been a busy week for Chicago’s baseball teams: the Cubs signed pitcher Marcus Stroman and White Sox great Minnie Miñoso finally made the Hall of Fame. The good news coincides with Major League Baseball owners enacting a lockout against players after failing to reach a collective bargaining agreement, which could put the start of the 2022 season in jeopardy.
