Man Accused Of Pushing Chicago Police Horse Outside Wrigley Field
The 54-year-old man was charged with teasing a police animal after an incident during the Crosstown Classic.

CHICAGO, IL — Mess with a Chicago police horse and run the risk of spending time in Cook County Jail. That's what Roland Marshall, 54, found out last week when he was arrested and charged July 24 with teasing a police animal and resisting a police officer outside Wrigley Field during the first game of the Crosstown Classic, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Marshall, who lives in the North Center neighborhood, also was cited for obstructing traffic and is being held on $5,000 bail.
According to police, mounted officers told Marshall to stop walking in the middle of the street near Addison Street and Sheffield Avenue as the game between the Cubs and White Sox had just begun, the Sun-Times reports. Marshall refused to go on the sidewalk and began verbally abusing the officers before using his open hands to push one of the horses — named Mahoney — on its shoulder and flank, the report added. Officers apprehended Marshall as he walked away, and he resisted arrest as he was taken into custody, the report stated. He was ordered held on bail July 25, and his next court date is Tuesday, Aug. 1, the report added.
