Microsoft Chooses Lake View High as 'Pathfinder School'

The tech giant is inducting the Chicago high school into its Innovative Schools program.

Lake View High School in Chicago is now one of six schools in the United States to be inducted into Microsoft’s Innovative Schools, a program that connects educational leaders from around the globe to make schools better.

Microsoft announced 99 new Pathfinder Schools in 51 countries that will be a part of the 2012-2013 program that have demonstrated success with technological advancement. And according to the report, Lake View High is at the forefront of new-age learning.

“Lake View's collaboration with Microsoft and DePaul University provides opportunities for students to develop 21st century academic, technical and life skills for college and beyond,” Microsoft wrote in a statement. “Lake View offers an interdisciplinary Early College STEM program in three IT-related pathways: traditional STEM, arts and humanities.”

"It's innovative collaborations like this one with Microsoft that allow us to give parents a variety of options for a quality education that is best for their children."

Representatives from the 2012-2013 partnership with Microsoft will attend the Partners in Learning Global Forum from Nov. 28-Dec. 1 in Prague, Czech Republic. While there, these representatives will have the opportunity to participate in professional development workshops and network with innovative instructors from around the world who have been recognized by the program this year.
