New ‘Dishcrawl’ Planned for Lake View Restaurants
The new concept is like a bar crawl, but with food, and the eateries are kept secret until 48 hours before the event.
Everyone’s heard of a bar crawl, especially in Lake View, but what about a Dishcrawl?
Already a recognized start-up in cities like New York and San Francisco, Dishcrawl is hitting Lake View’s restaurant scene on March 12 at 7 p.m., says Chicago Dishcrawl Ambassador Tessa McLean. The pub-crawl for food lovers was kicked off in another North Side community, but now it’s Lake View’s turn.
“We had such a great time getting established in Wicker Park and had three amazing events. Now we’re really ready to get out and explore the city,” said McLean. "Each neighborhood has its own unique vibe, and we can’t wait to discover each one’s unique taste!”

Dishcrawl works like this: foodies purchase tickets for the event on the company’s website for $45, not knowing what restaurants are participating. Then 48 hours before the event, ticket holders get an email with only the first restaurant’s details, like where to meet for the first bite of the night.
Four different restaurants are chosen, and McLean says they’re all within a five minute walk of each other, so no need to coordinate transportation. Hints will also be given out on the company’s Twitter account @DishcrawlChi.

Even vegetarians can join along if they contact Dishcrawl in advance.
“Food, Fun, and Exploration! We here at Dishcrawl aim to provide you with a premier culinary social experience by bringing together neighborhood restaurants, local chefs, regional food producers and fellow food enthusiasts,” the company’s statement reads. “Join us if you'd like to embark on a one-of-a-kind gastronomic adventure!”
Other Chicago Dishcrawl events coming up are in the West Loop and Logan Square.
