1. Sunnyside Dispensary cut the ribbon on its new Wrigleyville location yesterday. Located "300 feet from the iconic Wrigley Field Marquee,” the 10,000 square foot space is the former home of John Barleycorn. The former Lakeview Sunnyside location will be converted to the Illinois Cannabis Education Center. (Yahoo)
2. Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Mayor Lori Lightfoot joined President Joe Biden yesterday in Washington, D.C. for the signing of the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill. Illinois is expected to receive about $17 billion from the package to improve roads, bridges, broadband connection and public transportation. (Politico)
3. An 18-year-old man has been charged in the killing of University of Chicago graduate Shaoxiong “Dennis” Zheng in Hyde Park last week. Alton Spann allegedly shot and killed Zheng during an attempted robbery. (Block Club)
4. The Cook County Department of Public Health is recommending all fully-vaccinated people older than 18 get a booster shot. The announcement comes a week after Chicago’s top doctor Allison Arwady said, “You're not gonna get turned away from getting a booster if you're over the age of 18. We have plenty of availability here." (NBC5)
5. Gotham Bagels was included in the Tribune’s ranking of 10 best bagels in Chicago this week. The Lakeview shop specializes in hand-rolled New York style bagels. (Paid source: Tribune)
