'Pay Attention,' Cubs Manager Says After Woman Hit by Foul Ball at Wrigley
Line drive off Kyle Schwarber's bat in the first inning put a scare into everyone at Wrigley Field.
A Kyle Schwarber line-drive foul ball at Wrigley Field struck and injured a woman sitting on the first-base side in the first inning of Sunday’s game, prompting the Chicago Cubs manager to admonish fans to “pay attention.”
The woman was conscious, carried away on a stretcher and sent to a hospital.

Fans and Cubs alike were stunned and the game was halted briefly as paramedics came to her aid. First-base coach Brandon Hyde put his hands to his helmet as he saw the ball strike the woman.
Cubs manager Joe Maddon was asked about the incident after the game.

“Those are wonderful seats, probably paying a lot of money for them. I see people turning their back to the action. You can’t do it,” Maddon told reporters. “It’s awful. Pay attention. ...
“Every time a ball is pitched, you look, you look, then you can talk. When my family is there, I insist that they pay attention to what’s going on.”
Schwarber expressed his concern on Twitter after the game.
“Thoughts and prayers go out to the woman who was struck by the baseball today,” the rookie tweeted.
