PHOTO: Jersey Mike’s Dishes Up $2K to Lake View School

The new sandwich restaurant in East Lake View presented a check to the school after a successful grand opening.

After opening Lake View’s first Jersey Mike’s in late November, business owner David Do is already putting money where his mouth is.

The new restaurant at 3152 N. Broadway in East Lake View recently presented a check to Nettelhorst Elementary School for $2,000. It was all a part of their grand opening celebration where employees dished up a free sandwich for every dollar donated.

“At Jersey Mike’s, we believe in giving back to the community,” Do wrote in an email. “Therefore, at every new Grand Opening, an owner can choose to raise money for any local charity of his/her choice. For me, I chose Nettelhorst School, since this school has gone through so much to stay open for Lakeview East.  That said, during the Grand Opening week (Wednesday - Sunday), we gave out a free sub with a $1.00 donation towards the school.”

Do said the community support was amazing, with practically every customer eager to donate to the local school.

This is also the first of two Jersey Mike’s he plans to open in Lake View, with the second location potentially opening its doors in the next six to nine months. That location has yet to be determined.
