More than 40,000 people swarmed North Broadway Avenue in September for the 8th Annual Festival of the Arts to enjoy music, food and fine art.

The street festival, organized by the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce, spanned a total of four blocks and featured more than 150 juried artists selling original paintings, jewelry, sculptures and more. Chamber organizers called this year’s event a “great success” not only for artists but local businesses.

Justin Vrany, owner of restaurant Sandwich Me In near Clark Street and Barry Avenue, told the Lakeview East Chamber he saw a boost in sales during the art fair.

"The festival was a beautiful way to spend the weekend,” said Vrany in the chamber’s newsletter. “We ate unique foods, viewed unique art and made new friends in the neighborhood. On top of that, sales were awesome and the festival was a great way to market the restaurant."
