Ribfest Menu: Lake View Representing Bone-in Bites, Gator Sausage

Rib masters from Chicago and around the country are gearing up for the North Side's legendary Ribfest, which will be held in nearby Northcenter.

After leaks of dates and  the Northcenter Chamber of Commerce finally announced the most important part of the festival—the menus. And you'd better believe that local barbecue hotspots Wrigley BBQ and Blue Bayou have made the cut. 

Wrigley BBQ, a restaurant that opened in October, will be among 13 different rib samplers that will tempt meat lovers on June 7, 8 and 9. Also included is Joey Sutphen's Texas Thunder classic BBQ, offering honey and brown sugar ribs, and the Wicker Park staple The Smoke Daddy.

If neater eating is more your style, other fare from local kitchens will be available. That’s including Blue Bayou, a Cajun-themed restaurant currently undergoing a renovation. They’ll be serving up gator sausage, crawfish sausage and cornbread.

Others like Big Fork Brands will have their three-cheese macaroni with bacon sausage and festival-goers can nosh on anything from deep-fried Oreos to shaved ice from other vendors. 

Ribfest will have 50,000 pounds of BBQ and 25 hours of food, fun and music, according to its organizer, the Northcenter Chamber of Commerce.

In 15 years, the festival has evolved from one day in a parking lot to a full weekend that spans Lincoln Avenue between Irving Park and Berteau Avenue.

With more than 20 bands and 15 meat vendors, the event attracted almost 50,000 people in 2012, according to chamber officials.
