Streets Filled with Cabs on the 'Day Without Taxis'
24 hours without a taxi protest fizzles in response to mayor's Uber ideas. But Uber drivers were treated to free donuts.

On this day, the mayor would notice the absence of cabs on Chicago streets.
On Facebook, the UTCC declared:
All the cabdrivers we spoke with wanted to take ACTION to express their anger and WILL! We want to be heard! Cabdrivers around the country and the world are fighting back against UBER and the Chicago drivers wanted to join the international movement!
Alas, Thursday was business as usual for the cab drivers of the Windy City. The Chicago Department of Aviation told Crain’s Chicago Business the called-for cabbie strike had no impact on O’Hare and Midway airports.
Uber, in fact, was so looking forward to the day without taxis, the company promised drivers free coffee and donuts.
“This is not the end of the story,” Peter Enger, secretary of the taxi council, told Crain’s.
