Students: Apply for Legislators' Schoolarship, Rep Says

The yearly scholarship for undergrad students is worth up to $2,500 and is geared toward women whose life circumstances delayed their education.

State Rep. Sara Feigenholtz (D–Chicago) encourages female non-traditional undergraduate students to apply for a scholarship worth up to $2,500 offered by the Conference of Women Legislators.

COWL is a non-profit, bi-partisan coalition comprised of women legislators across the state. The one-year undergraduate COWL scholarship is offered to female students aged 25 years and older who are pursuing careers that will contribute to government, children, families and community. The scholarship is funded by COWL’s fundraising initiatives.

“This scholarship gives women whose life circumstances delayed their education a better chance of achieving their educational and career goals,” said Feigenholtz. “As legislators, we have a responsibility to ensure equal access to educational opportunities. As women, we have a responsibility to support each other and guide the next generation of female leaders. This scholarship merges both of these goals.”

“Making college affordable and accessible to all students who want to pursue higher education is so important to the overall strength of our communities,” Feigenholtz said. “I am proud to be a member of COWL and to support this scholarship that gives young female leaders the tools they need to succeed.”
