1. Illinois hospitals are facing “unprecedented strain” on health care workers during the omicron surge, leading to hundreds of patients being kept in emergency rooms when they need admittance or critical care. Boarding patients in ERs is a “quality of care concern and a safety concern,” Dr. Russell Fiorella of Sinai Chicago said. (Paid source: Tribune)

2. Classes will be canceled again tomorrow as Chicago Public Schools negotiates with the teachers union, the district announced Saturday.
