White Powder On CTA Train Shuts Down Addison Station
Authorities evacuated the Wrigleyville station Thursday morning, but a hazmat team determined the substance wasn't dangerous.

CHICAGO, IL — Emergency workers evacuated the Addison CTA station Thursday morning after someone allegedly sprayed a white, powdery substance on a train, according to NBC 5 Chicago. A hazardous materials team was dispatched to the Wrigleyville station, and investigators determined that the substance on the train wasn't toxic, the report added.
Authorities were contacted about the foreign substance on a southbound Red Line train just before 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, the report stated. Passengers were removed from the train, and the station was shut down, the report added.
The closure forced Red Line trains to avoid the station until normal CTA service resumed at around 11 a.m.. The hazmat investigation also closed Addison Street to traffic between Sheridan Road and Belmont Avenue, the report added.
