Wisconsin Do-Gooder Continues Wheelchair Pilgrimage to Wrigley Field
The lifelong Chicago Cubs fan has traveled about 10 miles each day in his wheelchair to raise money for several charities.
In the name of five different charities, a lifelong Cubs fan from Wisconsin is en route to Wrigley Field this week — in only his wheelchair.
Dennis Schulze lost his leg in a near-death accident. Since earlier this month, he has been using his wheelchair to navigate a 115-mile route to The Friendly Confines at a pace of about 10 miles per day, according to a WICU12 report.
Reporters caught up with the 55-year-old former truck driver this week along Route 14 in suburban Palatine, where he told them, "There is always somebody worse off than I am, you know, so that's the reason I do it, to put myself to the challenge."

Funds raised will support Alzheimer's and cancer research, as well as the March of Dimes, Wounded Warrior Project and a nonprofit aimed at child abuse prevention.
"I have a slogan," Schulze said to WICU12 reporters. "They asked me to make up one, and it's, 'Let's all pull together for those who can't walk together.'"
