Woman Reports Assault by Cab Driver

The woman was reportedly assaulted in an alley by the driver.

A woman was assaulted by a cab driver who drove her home early Sunday morning in Lake View, according to a post by Crime in Wrigleyville and Boystown. The woman's boyfriend called the police from Addison and Racine to report that she had been sexually assaulted by the taxi driver. A second caller said that a battery had occurred. 

Initial reports state that the driver is accused of driving the victim into an alley, where he then assaulted her, Crime in Wrigleyville and Boystown states. The victim was treated at the Illinois Masonic Medical Center. 

The blog True Slant offered up some tips for staying safe in cabs. The site recommends using a taxi service — like Uber, Side car or TaxiMagic to order a cab, which will help track where you are and who is driving you. The site also recommends texting the cab's number to a friend, having cash/credit card ready before the cab comes to a stop and always keep track of the route the drier is taking.
