5 Wrestlers From Lemont High School Head To State

LEMONT, IL — Five Lemont High School wrestlers will be in Champaign-Urbana to compete in the IHSA State Wrestling Tournament.

The wrestlers advanced to the state level of competition after placing in the Hinsdale South 2A Sectionals, which were held Feb. 10 and Feb. 11 in Darien. The following wrestlers will compete at state:

  • Senior Carter Mikolajczak, who earned 4th place at sectionals
  • Senior Noah O'Connor, sectional champion
  • Senior Alex Pasquale, sectional champion
  • Junior Julian Vallianatos, who earned 4th place at sectionals
  • Sophomore Cory Zator, who earned 4th place at sectionals

The 2024 IHSA State Wrestling Tournament runs Feb. 15 through Feb. 17, with championship matches slated for Saturday evening.

Heading into the tournament, Zator, Mikolajczak, O'Connor and Pasquale are two-time state qualifiers. Mikolajczak earned 3rd place in the 2022 freshman/sophomore championships. O'Connor placed 6th in 2021 at the IWCOA State Championships. In 2022, Pasquale emerged as champion at the freshman/sophomore championships.
