LEMONT, IL — Eight Lemont High School students were recognized as Students of the Month for March and April 2024. Each month, departments choose a standout freshman, sophomore, junior and senior for the distinction.

Freshman Ella Kincaid

Ella Kincaid was selected by the mathematics department. Kincaid is involved in Drama Club and girls' basketball at the high school and is honors math and English classes. The Student of the Month announcement shared that "Ella’s teachers say she exemplifies the love of learning and is not satisfied with just finding the correct answer, but strives for a true understanding of the concepts behind the outcome. She is kind and thoughtful and is described as having a lovely humility about her skills."

Sophomore Luke Rupert

Luke Rupert was chosen by the music department for his "leadership, as well as his relentless passion and tenacity for practicing his artistry on the alto saxophone." Rupert is a high honor roll student who performs with the Youth Jazz Ensemble of DuPage and is set to perform in New York City at the 29th Essentially Ellington Jazz Festival. He is a conference champion in Mathletes and part of Mu Alpha Theta and the Tri-M Music Honor Society.

Junior Anika Reddy

The science department chose Anika Reddy as student of the month, recognizing her as "an energetic student and role model for her peers" and "the kind of engaged scholar teachers love to have in their classes and takes on every day with an open attitude." Reddy founded and is President of the Society of Women Engineers at Lemont High School. She is a board member of Mu Alpha Theta and was named to the National Honor Society.

Senior Nathan Tilly

The business department selected Nathan Tilly as Student of the month for his ability to "handle any task thrown his way with minimal instruction." He was also described as "self-driven and motivated." Tilly plays golf and volleyball at Lemont HS and is an AP Scholar who is part of Mu Alpha Theta and the National Honor Society.

Freshman Morgan Piont

Morgan Piont was chosen by the Center for Academic Vision and Excellence. She was recognized as an "exceptional student who takes full advantage of being in Freshman Academy"," consistently is on task [and] frequently communicates with teachers." Piont has been named a softball MVP twice and hopes to pursue a career as a physical therapist.

Sophomore Samantha Knutte

The social studies department selected Samantha Knutte as student of the month for her "work ethic" and "inquisitive nature," adding that" she asks thought-provoking questions that deepen her own understanding and encourage her classmates to think critically." Knutte plays for the badminton team and is a Mathlete who has been on the high honor roll.

Junior Sean Svoboda

Sean Svoboda was chosen by the industrial technology department, who praised him as "a natural in the woodshop who has developed a terrific portfolio." They added, "His work shows attention to detail and a passion for the subject matter, and he has proven to be a classroom leader who takes time to assist his peers." Svoboda is a member of Mu Alpha Theta and the National Honor Society.

Senior Quinton Peterson

Quinton Peterson was recognized by the English department for having "gone above and beyond in all of his English classes, and especially in Cinema Studies." For his video projects, Peterson was praised for his "amazing eye for detail in filming and editing." He is part of the Lemont High School Track and Field team and competed in the IHSA Class 3A State Finals.
