CITGO Lemont Refinery Awards $100K To The Forge: Charitable Adventures

The grant supports the Heritage Quarries Shoreline and Aquatics Restoration project, which aims to improve biodiversity and ecosystem health

LEMONT, IL — As part of CITGO's Caring for Our Coast initiative, the Lemont refinery has awarded $100,000 grant to The Forge: Charitable Adventures, a nonprofit in Lemont, according to a release from the business.

CITGO, which operates refineries in Lemont; Lake Charles, Louisiana; and Corpus Christi, Texas; has awarded $1 million in grants to environmental agencies that surround the refinery locations.

The recipient organizations support a wide range of environmental, conservation, and community-based projects and nonprofits and the grants will help sustain long-term environmental stewardship, conservation efforts and ecosystem restoration initiatives, according to a release.

The Forge: Charitable Adventures was awarded $100,000, which will support the Heritage Quarries Shoreline and Aquatics Restoration project, which aims to improve biodiversity, ecosystem health and community safety.

"Caring for our environment for future generations is everyone’s responsibility, so it’s vitally important to partner with organizations that share similar values and commitment,” said Kresha Sivinski, CITGO Vice President Human Resources and Support Services. “That’s why we are recognizing and awarding these organizations with additional funding, as they are leading the way in protecting and restoring our delicate coastal environments and inland habitats.”
