Commercial Motor Vehicle Grant Nets 45 Citations in Lemont

The heightened enforcement ran April 1 through June 30, and was funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Eleven enforcement details targeting commercial motor vehicles were conducted by the this spring, resulting in 45 citations.

The heightened enforcement ran from April 1 through June 30. Details were conducted by police officers who received specialized training in commercial motor vehicle (CMV) law enforcement, according to press release.

Enforcement periods were four to eight hours long between 4 a.m. and 8 p.m., police said.

Details were scheduled during high CMV crash times based on crash reports, observed CMV traffic and speed surveys conducted on heavily traveled routes, such as 127th Street, Lemont Road and Archer Avenue.

  • CMV Seatbelt not used: 9
  • CMV Driver's license violations: 3
  • CMV Various equipment violations: 17

The commercial motor vehicle enforcement was funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation, police said.
