Committee To Appoint Replacement For 82nd District Representative

The 82nd Representative District Committee will meet at the Lemont Township Community Center at 4 p.m. on Dec. 20.

LEMONT, IL — After the resignation of State Representative John Egofske, the 82nd Representative District Committee will meet on Dec. 20 to appoint a replacement for the vacancy.

Egofske, who was appointed earlier this year, resigned on Dec. 8 due to his responsibilities as Mayor of Lemont.

"John Egofske is a tremendous leader in the community, and we thank him for his continued service as Mayor of Lemont," DuPage Republican Chairman Jim Zay said in a release from the House Republican Organization. “Our committee looks forward to a transparent and thorough process to fill this important position.”

The 82nd Representative District Committee will meet at Lemont Township Community Center, 16300 Alba St., at 4 p.m. on Dec. 20 to review applicant information and appoint Egofske's replacement. The meeting is open to the public.

Committee members include Jim Zay from DuPage County, Tim Ozinga from Will County, Michael Shackel from Lemont Township, Terrance Carr from Lyons Township, Cindy Nelson Katsenes from Orland Township and Sean Morrison from Palos Township.

The Committee’s appointment will be for the remaining term of the 103rd Illinois General Assembly.

Interested applicants must live within the 82nd District and submit a resume and letter of reference from a Republican elected official by email or in person to: Tony Esposito, tonyesposito@ilhro.com.

Applicants must give information no later than 5 p.m. on Dec. 19, according to a release.
