District 113A Audit Shows Stable Finances

"The state of our district is strong, and we remain focused on building a bright future," Superintendent Dr. Courtney Orzel said.

LEMONT, IL — At the Nov. 19 meeting of the Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education, results from a recent audit were shared, highlighting the district’s continued commitment to financial management and transparency, according to a news release from District 113A.

The district said that through continued focus and work of the Board of Education, the district is in a stable position financially. Over the course of the past years, the district has reopened Central School, added additional programming including full-day kindergarten and has provided ongoing professional development for staff.

"The state of our district is strong, and we remain focused on building a bright future," Superintendent Dr. Courtney Orzel said in a release. "While we are facing challenges with growing enrollment and limited space, this increase in enrollment is a testament to our unwavering commitment to providing an exceptional education for the students and families we serve."

Some accomplishments that were highlighted include:

  • District 113A has continued to maintain its best bond rating in the last 15 years.
  • Multiple bond upgrades: most recently in July 2023 by S & P to AA+ with a stable outlook (upgraded from AA)
  • Including 2024, 12 consecutive financial recognition scores of the highest rating from Illinois State Board of Education
  • ASBO 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 Financial Recognition Award

“As a Board, we are continuously focused on fiscal responsibility, stability and transparency,” said Board President Damon Ascolani. “These recognitions and accomplishments are good reminders that we are on the right track financially and are purposeful in our planning for the needs of all our students.”
