District 113A Board to Discuss Busing Options for 2012-13
The District 113A Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Old Quarry Middle School, 16100 W. 127th St.

The Board of Education will discuss transportation options for the 2012-13 school year during its monthly business meeting Tuesday night.
School board members are expected to discuss busing options, but likely won't make any final decisions, Board President Dave Molitor said Monday.
According to Molitor, the has reached out to the district regarding next year's routes so they can determine the number of crossing guards they need to budget for.

"The police department works with us every year to provide crossing guards, so they've asked us to provide some information on our plans for next year," Molitor said.
In February, the transportation committee recommended that District 113A eliminate two bus routes, which would save the district in excess of $50,000 in personnel, maintenance and fuel costs over the next two years, according to agenda documents.

The proposal comes in light of recent reductions in state funding for transportation.
The two routes include students who live west of State Street between 127th Street to New Avenue and Timberline Drive. The walk zone for all affected students would be about a mile-and-a-half from the Oakwood/River Valley and SS. Cyril and Methodius campuses.
Approximately 210 students would be affected.
