Feb. 7-11: Ellie's Fundraiser, Park District Events

Lemont Patch gets you ready for the next five days with five things you need to know this week.

1. Dates Set for Village's Meetings on Public Education

Lemont Mayor Brian Reaves announced last week . The first is an intergovernmental meeting with all of Lemont's taxing bodies, which will be held at Thursday, Feb. 24., at 7 p.m. in Village Hall, 418 Main St. The second is a town hall meeting, and will be held Wednesday, March 16, at 7 p.m. at Lemont High School, 800 Porter St.

2. Relay for Life Meeting

Anyone interested in volunteering with Relay for Life of Lemont and Homer Glen is invited to attend a planning committee meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at , 1131 State St. This year's event is scheduled for July 8-9 at the Lemont High School Sports Complex on 131st Street and Bell Road. 3. Valentine's Day Programs at the Lemont Library

As you get ready for Valentine's Day, head to the , 50 E. Wend St., from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to discover "A World of Chocolate." Chocolatier Kevin Roblee of Kokku Distinctive Gourmet will be on hand to teach guests how to make their own gourmet chocolates.

In celebration of "Random Acts of Kindness Week" (Feb. 14-20), kids ages 9 to 11 are invited to the library Friday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. to make Valentines for residents in Lemont's nursing homes. On Sunday, Lemont residents Ed and Sandee Mikel will perform classic love songs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the library atrium.

4. Lemont Park District Events

The is gearing up for two big events this week. First, thy will host "Daddy-Daughter Date Night" on Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the , 16050 127th St. The event will feature a catered dinner, photos and flowers. For more information, call 630-257-6787.

On Saturday, adults are invited to attend the Park District's from 7 p.m. to midnight at the CORE. The event will benefit the Lemont Park Foundation, and will feature a professional DJ, food and drinks. Guests must be 21 years or older. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.

5. Hearts and Love for Ellie

Join Hope and Friendship Ministries on Friday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at , 206 Main St., for Ellie Cuiching is a 6-year-old Lemont girl who recently underwent two surgeries to remove 98 percent of a massive brain tumor.
