Fire Damages Garage, Minivan in Unincorporated Lemont
No one was injured in the blaze at 11902 Hillcrest Drive, which was called in shortly before 2 p.m. Friday.
There were no injuries Friday afternoon in a garage fire that damaged a home in unincorporated Lemont.
The responded around 1:55 p.m. to the fire, which occurred at 11902 Hillcrest Drive in Hillcrest Estates off McCarthy Road. When they arrived on the scene, firefighters were met with heavy smoke conditions and flames coming from the garage and a red minivan parked inside, said Lemont Deputy Fire Chief Jay Nickleski.
The man who owns home was on the scene at the time of the fire, and was able to escape without injury. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in about an hour, Nickleski said.

At 3 p.m., light smoke could still be seen coming from the garage and firefighters were picking up debris from inside the top level of the home. While most of the damage appeared to be contained to the garage, there may have been moderate damage in the home's upper level as well.
Lemont firefighters were assisted by the Argonne Fire Department, Northwest Homer Fire Protection District, Tri-State Fire Protection District and Romeoville Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Nickleski said.
