Heat Advisory: High Temps Around 100 Degrees Expected Tuesday
Heat indices between 100 and 110 degrees are expected between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Brace yourselves, Chicago. We're in for yet another day of sweltering heat.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Cook County, effective 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday.
High temperatures are expected to reach 100 degrees across Cook County and Chicago this afternoon, according to the advisory. Low temperatures Tuesday morning will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s, with lows Wednesday morning in the upper 70s.

Heat indices are expected to range between 100 and 110 degrees in the afternoon and early evening hours.
Elevated ozone levels and poor air quality will increase the stresses on the body from the heat. This is true especially for children, the elderly and those with pulmonary or respiratory conditions. These groups should limit their exposure to outdoor air.Â

Prolonged exposure to the heat will be dangerous, according to the NWS, and can cause sunstroke, heat cramps or heat exhaustion.
If you need to work outside, reschedule activities for early morning or evening. Wear light-weight and loose-fitting clothing and drink plenty of water.Â
Take frequent breaks in shade or in an air-conditioned space.Â
Stay out of the sun and check on relatives and neighbors. Pets and children should not be left unattended in cars as the interior can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.Â
