'iGrowLemont' Community Garden Joins Farmers Market
Locally-grown vegetables will be available at the Lemont Farmers Market on Tuesday, July 16.

Locally-grown vegetables will be available at the Lemont Farmers Market beginning this Tuesday, all to benefit a good cause.
"iGrowLemont," a new initiative to promote community and healthy living, broke ground this spring on a community garden, located on Alba Street near the Lemont Township Community Center, that will be used to stock the Lemont food pantries with fresh produce and supply vegetables for free cooking demonstrations.
Beginning Tuesday, July 16, iGrowLemont will be selling beets, radishes, herbs and lettuce at the Lemont Farmers Market, which runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Talcott Square.
Tomatoes, squash, zucchini and other vegetables will be available in the coming weeks, according to village officials.
All money made from the sale of "iGrowLemont" produce will go toward the Lemont General Assistance Fund, which helps families and individuals in need.
iGrowLemont was founded earlier this year by Lemont resident Ashley Sullivan Vass and two of her friends, Lemont resident Caroline TeSelle and Petal Play Design owner Viviana Grasso. Its mission is to cultivate community by providing opportunities and resources that will enhance the well-being of Lemont residents, Vass said.
"The idea is to get the community involved in planting the garden, and teach them ways they can live and eat healthier," Vass said.
