Landscaping Truck Catches Fire on I-355, No Injuries Reported

The incident caused a small brush fire Wednesday evening after the driver pulled over on Southbound Interstate 355, just north of the 127th Street exit.

No injuries were reported Wednesday after a landscaping truck caught fire on I-355 near Lemont.

According to Lt. Matt Peksa, the  responded around 5:20 p.m. to the truck, which was heading southbound on I-355 when the driver noticed flames coming from under the hood.

The driver pulled over just north of the 127th Street exit near Lemont, and exited the vehicle without any injuries, Peksa said.

The fire was contained to the truck, so no damage was sustained to the attached trailer, Peksa said.

However, the flames did cause a small brush fire along the side of the road.

"The grass is really dry from the weather we've been having," Peksa said. "Thankfully, it was a small fire."

Illinois State Police and the Illinois Department of Transportation were also at the scene.
