Lemont Board Approves Grant Application For Heritage Quarries Project

The plans would include amenity improvements for the Heritage Quarries and I&M Canal Trail.

LEMONT, IL — At its Monday meeting, the Lemont Village Board approved applying for grant funding through the Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grant program.

A public hearing was also planned for Thursday, to discuss the improvements. In order to qualify for the state funding, a public meeting must be held on the proposed project.

According to Board documents, the project consists of paving roadways leading to parking lots, a fishing pier, a natural playground, two shelters, signage, benches and trees.

If awarded the grant, there will be more meetings and discussions about the proposed improvements.
