LEMONT, IL — As part of celebrations for its 150th anniversary of incorporation, the Village of Lemont and other community organizations have created a time capsule.
At Monday's Village Board meeting, Economic and Community Development Director Jason Berry, as well as members of the Lemont Area Historical Society, presented some items that will go in the time capsule.
Lemont held several events throughout the past year to celebrate the 150th anniversary.

"Anyone that knows Lemont, knows that we never stop celebrating our heritage, so to say that our celebration has come to an end, we say this is only the beginning of another 150 years," Berry said.
The time capsule will be housed in Village Hall, and will be opened in 2123.

Historical Society President Terry Blanz said the society added things like pictures from buildings in the community, newsletters, program information and menus.
Berry said the capsule also contains 150th anniversary merchandise, a copy of the proclamation for the 150th anniversary, photos of the Village Board, event flyers, a map and yearbooks.
"All those things that make Lemont such a fun and vibrant place; it's all going to be captured," Berry said.
