Lemont Girls Soccer Team Finishes Fourth in State Tournament
The Indians lost to Fenwick, 1-0, on Saturday in the third-place game of the IHSA Class 2A state finals.

The Lemont High School girls soccer team finished fourth in state after falling to Fenwick on Saturday.
The Indians settled for fourth place after falling to Fenwick by a 1-0 score in the third-place game of the IHSA Class 2A state finals, which were contested at North Central College in Naperville.
Head coach Rick Prangen’s squad previously earned a runner-up finish at the 2009 IHSA Class 2A state finals, and was third at the 2011 event.
The Indians (21-5-2) battled Fenwick to a scoreless tie at the half. However, the Friars (20-6-4) tallied the deciding goal six minutes into the second half when Cali Pyzdrowski knocked home a loose ball that resulted off of a corner kick.
Junior Kelly Fritz had four saves for Lemont, which was outshot by a 13-6 margin but held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks. Jesse Cwik had three saves while picking up the shutout for Fenwick.
Lemont found itself in the third-place match after dropping a 3-1 decision to Prairie Ridge in the semifinal round on May 31. Junior Kim Jerantowski tallied Lemont’s score in that contest, her team-leading 21st of the season.
Chatham Glenwood topped Prairie Ridge, 4-1, in the title match to become the 2013 IHSA Class 2A state champion.
Girls’ soccer is the eighth Lemont High School athletic program to compete at the state level this year.
