Lemont Grocery Store To Give Away $25 Gift Cards In Wilson Giveaway
Pete's Fresh Market offers the gift cards to local seniors Wednesday in a $1 million giveaway by Chicago mayoral candidate Willie Wilson.
LEMONT, IL — A Lemont grocery store is among several Chicago-area businesses where Chicago mayoral candidate Willie Wilson will be giving away free gift cards to local senior citizens on Wednesday.
The Pete’s Fresh Market location at 1100 State St. in Lemont is one of 17 Pete’s markets where residents will be able to receive a $25 gift card for groceries beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. Wilson, who has given away free gas totaling millions of dollars in the past, has announced that he will give away $1 million this week to help residents pay for gas and groceries.
In addition to the $25 grocery gift cards, Wilson announced that he will give away coupons for residents who live in Chicago Housing Authority buildings to get $2 off per gallon at Chicago-area gas stations.

"Today, the cost of gasoline and food is at a 40-year high," Wilson said in a news release this week. "Lower-income families spend approximately 77 percent of their income on necessities. The costs of milk and eggs are up 11 percent, meat is up 13 percent, and fruits and vegetables 8 percent."
Wilson announced last month he will run for Mayor in Chicago and has vowed to hire a new police superintendent as a way of combating Chicago crime as well as eliminating red-light cameras.
