Lemont High School Honors May Students of the Month

Senior Brandon Jarboe, junior Joey Bruno, sophomore Morgan Micetich and freshman Kevin Murphy were recognized during the May 14 meeting of the District 210 Board of Education.

Four  students have been named "Students of the Month" for the month of May for their outstanding work and dedication to community.

Senior Brandon Jarboe, junior Joey Bruno, sophomore Morgan Micetich and freshman Kevin Murphy were recognized during the May 14 meeting of the District 210 Board of Education.

As part of the honor, Brad Grcevic, of  in Lemont, makes a charitable donation on behalf of the students. Each student is encouraged to nominate a charity, and then the four must come to a consensus on which organization should receive the funds.

This month, the students chose Susan G. Komen for the Cure to receive the donation.

Only 32 students are honored as Students of the Month from October to May. Students may only be selected once during their time at Lemont High School.

May Honorees

Kevin Murphy, Freshman

Kevin Murphy was selected by the Health Department as the Freshman Student of the Month. He is a high honor roll student who lists English I Honors, Accelerated Algebra II Honors and Cultural Geography as his favorite courses. He is described as a hardworking student who values education and motivates others to succeed.

Murphy participates in football, boys track and field, and Student Council. This summer, he will serve as a junior counselor at the Illinois Association of Junior Highs Student Council summer leadership camp. In the future, he hopes to be a doctor be involved in international studies.

Morgan Micetich, Sophomore

Sophomore Morgan Micetich received Student of the Month honors from the Driver Education Department. Her instructors said she represents what they want to see from students in Driver Education courses; she works hard, understands the serious responsibility of driving and demonstrates a high level of maturity.

Micetich volunteers at the Hinsdale Humane Society, is a high honor roll student and has been nominated to participate in the National Youth Leadership Forum. She hopes to continue doing well academically and attend the college of her choice.

Joey Bruno, Junior

Joey Bruno was chosen as the junior Student of the Month by the Special Education Department. A high honor roll student, Rachwalski likes all of his classes, but his favorite course is English. He is always prepared for class, turns in his assignments on time and seeks help when necessary.

Bruno is actively involved in the school's recycling program and Breakfast Buddies, and is a solid role model for other students. He plans to attend the College of DuPage to study paleontology, and hopes to one day work at the Field Museum.

Brandon Jarboe, Senior

Brandon Jarobe was named Student of the Month by the Guidance Department. An honor roll student, his favorite courses include Pre-Calculus and American Problems. His instructors describe him as a hard worker with a high level of maturity.

Jarobe played football for his first two years, and was a member of the boys boywling squad for four seasons. At his job at TCF Bank, he earned "Employee of the Month" honors twice in his first eight months on the job. He is currently considering serving in the military after high school.
