Lemont High School Honors May Students of the Month

Senior Monica Butler, junior Alex Jaeger, sophomore Kyle Kowalski and freshman Jeremy Fejedelem were recognized during the May 21 meeting of the District 210 Board of Education.

Four  students have been named "Students of the Month" for the month of May for their outstanding work and dedication to community.

Senior Monica Butler, junior Alex Jaeger, sophomore Kyle Kowalski and freshman Jeremy Fejedelem were recognized during the May 21 meeting of the District 210 Board of Education.

As part of the honor, Brad Grcevic, of Edward Jones Investment in Lemont, makes a charitable donation on behalf of the students. Each student is encouraged to nominate a charity, and then the four must come to a consensus on which organization should receive the funds.

This month, the students chose St. Jude Children's Hospital to receive the donation.

Only 32 students are honored as Students of the Month from October to May. Students may only be selected once during their time at Lemont High School.

May Honorees

Jeremy Fejedelem, Freshman

Jeremy Fejedelem was selected by the Health Department as the Freshman Student of the Month. He is a high honor roll student who lists English I and Algebra II as his favorite courses. He is described as a hard-working student who demonstrates a sense of curiosity and insight during class discussions.

Fejedelem plays football and hopes to one day earn a scholarship to play at the collegiate level. He enjoys working out, reading and playing 16-inch softball with his friends.

Kyle Kowalski, Sophomore

Kyle Kowalski received Student of the Month honors from the Driver Education Department. He is a high honor roll student, and lists Driver Education, English II and theater technology as his favorite courses. He is described as "polite and respectful of his teachers."

Kowalski is a member of the boys volleyball team and has been involved with the Drama Club and Foreign Language Club. He plans to study law enforcement in college.

Alex Jaeger, Junior

Alex Jaeger was chosen as the junior Student of the Month by the Special Education Department. An honor roll student, Jaeger most enjoys humanities and social studies courses. He is dedicated to his studies and demonstrates excellent work ethic and perseverance. His teachers describe him as a model student who is respectful and compassionate.

Jaeger has been part of the school's football program, and has worked on the spring musical each of the last two years on the tech crew. He plans to study broadcast journalism in college.

Monica Butler, Senior

Butler was named Student of the Month by the Guidance Department. As an aide in the PPS Office, she takes initiative, works well independently and is always willing to lend a hand.

While she has been a part of several activities on campus, including Poms and Yearbook, most of Butler's time is devoted to Irish dancing. She has developed a strong interest in veterinary medicine, which she plans to study at Southern Illinois University.
