LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School will be offering up a Broadway show for its spring musical this month and is giving area senior citizens the chance to see it for free, the school recently announced.

The school production of “Newsies – the Broadway Musical” will debut on May 12 and run through May 14 with three 7 p.m. performances, the school said. The musical will be held in conjunction with the school’s spring art show, which will be held in Gallery 306.

Based on the 1992 motion picture based on a true story, “Newsies” features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein. The show features musical selections such as “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe.”
