Lemont KFC, Dunkin' Locations Burglarized While Closed: Police
Burglars broke into the three businesses on the same night and left with small amounts of cash before fleeing in a stolen car, police said.
LEMONT, IL — Three Lemont businesses were burglarized recently while they were closed, police said, saying that the suspects in the break-ins left with small amount of cash from each location before fleeing in a stolen car.
A Lemont Police spokesman confirmed to Patch that a Lemont Kentucky Fried Chicken store and two Dunkin’ doughnut and coffee locations were burglarized in the same night last week, police said.
However, the businesses were not the victims of robberies as was suggested in social media posts in the Lemont area, the department spokesman said. In each case, a suspect or suspects broke into the businesses within a short amount of time and were able to take between $100 and $150 from the cash registers, police said.

The department spokesman said that robberies involve money or property being taken by force from an actual victim, which made the numerous social media reports of the local businesses being robbed inaccurate.
Police were able to track the vehicle that they believe was involved in the break-ins, the spokesman said, but because the vehicle was stolen, police were not able to trace the vehicle to an owner, police said.
