Lemont Library Still Collecting Items for Veterans Drive
The Lemont Public Library and the Lemont VFW are collecting donations until Nov. 11 for their third annual "Helping Veterans on the Homefront."

The Lemont Public Library and the Lemont VFW Post 5819 are still collecting donations for their Veterans Day drive.
With the third annual "Helping Veterans on the Homefront," the groups are collecting materials for wounded and homeless veterans of war. Items needed include clothing, office supplies, toiletries and linens.
Donations will be accepted through Nov. 11, and will be sent to the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Wheaton and the Hines V.A. Hospital.

The Lemont-Homer Glen Rotary Club made a $200 donation to help with the collection of materials, said Sandra Pointon, director of the Lemont Public Library.
"It's one of our community initiatives," Pointon said of the drive. "It's a way to bring people into the library and get them involved in the community."

For each item donated, individuals will receive a coupon for a free DVD rental at the Lemont library or $1 off fines (up to $10 per account). Donations can be dropped off during library hours (Mon - Thurs, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Fri-Sat, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Sun 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.).
