Lemont Selected As A Top Day-Trip Destination From Chicago: Time Out!
The village, featuring The Forge outdoor adventure area, was one of 23 various day trip destinations that are driving distance from Chicago.

LEMONT, IL — Move over Lake Geneva and Milwaukee and make room, Grand Rapids and South Bend. When it comes to the top day-trip destinations from Chicago, you’ve got company, according to a newly published report that is driving visitors to a place they may have never traveled to before.
But for Lemont residents, the desirable locale is in your backyard, according to a new list of summer getaways that lists 23 short-distanced road trips that can easily be reached from Chicago. Time Out! Listed Lemont as one of the nearly two dozen cities and towns on a new list that features Lemont for its downtown business district and an aerial adventure park that is also getting its fair share of attention from another publication.
Lemont, which is listed by Time Out! as one of the closest road trips destinations from Chicago, is featured at No. 14 on the list of getaways along with places like Madison, Grand Rapids, Mich., South Bend, Ind., Gurnee, and Holland, Mich.

Time Out! editor Samantha Nelson praised Lemont for its close proximity to Chicago, which is only a Metra ride away and that features The Forge: Lemont Quarries. The adventure park features zip-lining, laser tag, and rope courses and is also listed as one of the Top 10 aerial adventure areas in the nation by USA Today.
The Forge is currently in third place in the online voting and residents have until May 9 to cast votes for the Lemont destination as village officials continue to soak up Lemont’s outside popularity.

Time Out! also highlighted the fishing that is available at the I&M canal, the Heritage Quarries Recreation Area, and the downtown area, where visitors can find Pollyanna Brewing, which features locally crafted beers and wood-fired pizza.
“Over the last year, our community has worked on rebranding downtown, investing in our businesses, and launching several new design and infrastructure projects,” Jason Berry, Lemont’s development director said in a statement issued by the village. “We are thrilled to see all of this hard work paying off—welcoming new businesses, topping must-do lists, and experiencing a growing excitement that Lemont is the place to be.”
