Lemont Uses Everbridge For Emergency Alert System

Residents can sign up to get alerts for weather, shelter in place, natural disasters, road closures and more.

LEMONT, IL — The Village of Lemont and Lemont Township have partnered to implement the Lemont Alerts mass notification system through Everbridge, a system that provides critical event management and public warnings.

The system will help keep the community safe and informed with reliable urgent and emergency notifications, according to the Village.

Residents and businesses can register immediately to receive these alerts by visiting the Village of Lemont website, www.lemont.il.us, and selecting “Lemont Alerts” on the top right, the featured button or bottom portion of the home page.

Lemont Alerts will use the Everbridge urgent and emergency notification system to alert residents and businesses about time-sensitive, urgent or emergency incidents that may affect safety, impact your commute or affect your daily routine within the Village of Lemont and Lemont Township, according to a news release.

Alerts can range from automated weather alerts, shelter in place, natural disasters, and other emergencies, to more time-sensitive announcements, such as road closures, water main breaks, or areas to avoid.

Messages will be sent to residents on their preferred devices — cell phone, SMS, home phone, email, and more. Residents listed in the Lemont 911 database will be automatically subscribed to emergency alerts by phone, but Everbridge allows citizens to self-register, provide additional contact information or opt out, the Village said.

“We have a commitment to ensure public safety, community awareness and emergency response. To uphold this, when critical information and more urgent public service announcements are available, we need to reach our residents as quickly and reliably as possible,” Marc Maton, Chief of Police, said in a release. “The Everbridge emergency notification system allows the Village of Lemont and Lemont Township to disseminate this information across all types of devices, ensuring residents have access to real-time public information when they need it the most.”
